Sniffing too much 114? Personally, I use 93 octane pump gas. I've
tried
high octane race gas and determined that it smelled a bit different, had a
funny color and was much more expensive. Once I was out on the track, none
of the above differences seemed to affect performance. My 850cc 4 - cyl.,
twin cam has a compression ratio of about 10 or 10.5 to 1. It turns over
10,000 rpm and it doesn't know the difference when it comes to race gas vs.
pump gas.
I'm sure that it can make a difference for some motors, particularly
with
very high compression. I'm equally sure that a lot of racers pay a lot of
money for nothing when it comes to race gas.
