I have a Ford, notorious for electrical problems. To clean the contacts
I use emery cloth. I rub it on the male connectors. For female
connectors, I take a small piece and fold it up to approximate the male
connector. Inserting the folded cloth into the female connector a few
times seems to do the trick.

While you're at it, solder the crimps. I don't beleive Triumph did
this. It does prolong the life of the connection.
