The operative word is " competitive"  The complaint that "I will no longer
be competitive" If someone else is allowed a modification I don't have , I
must therefore get that mod to remain "competitive"

Well, frankly that argument just doesn't mesh with what were supposed to be
doing.

Of course you'll still be "competitive", but you'll now be competing a bit
further back in the pack with a different bunch of guys who also chose not
to modify. What's the difference ?

What I really hear is "I have no chance of winning". Well that's probably
true, the guy with the questionable mod may finish ahead of you -- and that
will prove what ?????????????
