Eric,

Depending on conditions (climate, terrrain, city versus highway, etc.), any
Triumph would make (makes) a great driver given proper preparation and care.
The overall cost of keeping a driver in "driver" status varies with TR model
most often because of age, availability of parts and service, cost of parts,
etc.

IMHO, Spitfires make great overall drivers because their initial purchase
price is affordable and they can be easily maintained to a reasonable level
of reliability at a reasonable cost.....engine access is superb, the engine &
drivetrain are strong, parts are fairly easy to come by and performance isn't
bad (we're not talking TR6 brute power but a decently tuned Spit will keep up
with traffic).

Good luck -
