Hang on a minute.   80 *kilometres* an hour?   I regularly drive at 80+
*miles* per hour!

I don't know very much about Mk 1 GT6s, but I'd be very surprised if
they couldn't cruise happily at illegal speeds.   1977 Spitfire 1500s
