Randall has a very intriguing idea here; one that I'd like to pursue.
Does anyone on the List have a set of stock rear springs on the bench that
they could measure? I think I need the unloaded spring height and inside
diameter. I'll then contact the Airlift Company to see if they have a set of
pneumatic inserts that would fit. If they do, I'll get some, try them out,
and let the List know how they work.

No crazier than having to change springs every time : You might
try

I just put a set of them on my "LBC support vehicle", and they
work very
well. At max inflation they just about held the car level with
probably
500
pounds on the trailer hitch and another 500 pounds in the rear
compartment.
YOu could only tell the car was overloaded by looking at the
bulging tires.
Installed easy too; didn't have to disassemble the car at all.
