I've been thinking about the out of kilter driveshaft and I've seen one
before on a Spitfire. It seems that swing axles were 1" longer than they
were supposed to be and obviously taken out of some other car and jammed
into the spit. The result was that the differential wasn't centered and the
spring on the side where the axle was longer was actually pushed outward
two inches! It looked exactly like your asci picture.
