You know, based on everyone's descriptions of this group, if the words
"cop" and "police" were removed, I would really believe that you were
talking about gang members, not police.  In fact, that's exactly what
I thought based on Barry's account, right up until he considered that
they were the "next level of escalation above" the event personnel.  I
could not figure out why gang members would be in the chain of command
at a champ car race.

Did anyone get a badge number from any of the police personnel in
question?  I'm sure that the question of whether they had the
authority to go wherever they liked could be resolved by querying
their management.  If nothing else, an attitude adjustment seems in
order.
