I'd echo Tam's comments, I'd do it again.

A few well placed maps with "you are here" and depicting the available "foot
traffic" routes around the complex would of been helpful. The maps used were
good for "marketing" purposes but had insufficient detail for operations and
were not located at the "turn-back" points where they were needed. I'd guess
that 50% of our work of the gates was giving direction.

In terms of signs at restricted area access points, they were in the plans when
the SJGP organizer/operations folks met with us but they never materialized in
my area. I had an 8x11" hard copy which could of been handed out but thought
the 3'x4' signs would be sufficient. Not so sure what happened there.

My team had responsibility for the area from turn two (excluding the crossing)
up to the next station about turn 5. On Friday we had four egress points
(around turns 3a & b) to man with eight folks. By Saturday we were down to two
gates and four to five folks. We were fortunate that half the positions we had
were in early morning/afternoon shade, the other have mid/late afternoon shade.
I was able to rotate teams every 1-1/2 hours so that no one had too much
exposure and a diversity of viewing spots. We also had a very experienced Turn
Marshall who counted us for lunches but I noticed that his crews (2 F&C
stations) had brought their own containers of water; guess they're not used to
being so catered to ;^). We were also fortunate that on Saturday the Guest
Services folks started inviting us to share their ice cold water.

Thanks to everyone for making this a successful endeavor for Solo2.

PS. Remind me to tell you about my experience when carrying out the SJGP
Operations Manager's instructions, I suggested to a SJ Police team that they
weren't to be in the restricted space (hand guns win out over blue locks, at
least in my book ;^)..
