I forgot to mention the track time. At the big HMSA events, track time
is pretty dismal for the $300. At Monterey, you get one practice
session on Friday, and then on your race day, you get a warmup session,
then the race session later in the day. The other day on the weekend
you just sit around. At least at the Wine Country event, there were 2
sessions each day, plus Friday mixed practice sessions. CSRG tends to
have 3 sessions for each group each day. The SCCA Vintage events were
about the same, maybe a little longer sessions.
Bottom line, either you mix a whole bunch of different cars together to
get more track time, or you have more groups getting less time.
