Yeah, but...  The higher octane burns more slowly and actually contains less 
energy.  If your compression ratio is so high that you need the higher 
octane to avoid pre-ignition then, by golly, you really need it.  However 
being able to push the timing earlier just because you can doesn't 
necessarily mean you get more power.  You need to measure your power output 
(or have a highly calibrated backside) to be sure.
