on my gas blower I discovered that the plastic fuel line (<1/4") went into 
the fuel tank simply through a hole punched in the plastic tank. Over time, 
the hole in the fuel tank had cracked and would only pull enough fuel to 
keep it running once it was running (through use of ether).
Yeh, check where the fuel line enters the tank.
