J-2741 (mmm #44, and which I bought in July 1961) had a medium red engine when
purchased. It had been registered and was plated in Oregon in 1954 and had a
1949 British tax tag on the steering wheel spoke and seemed generally
unmolested. I repainted the engine a similar red when I first rebuilt it in
1964. I did not note any other color on the block when it was stripped for
rebuild.

Engine (original) is 1447AJ.

PS: who else has owned their MMM car for more than 40 years?
