SCCA classes, SM2, and F125

Let's see. The autocross club I'm a member of has run six events in 2002.
We have averaged 103 entries per event.
At those six events we've had entries in 26 SCCA classes.
SM has 2nd greatest # of entries
SM2 has 3rd greatest # of entries
F125 has 12th greatest # of entries (note that this puts it in the top half...)

classes with fewer entries than F125:
AS, ES, HS, STX
ASP, BSP, ESP, FSP
CP, DP, EP, FP
AM (one gentleman, has entered one of six events)
CM (one gentleman, has entered three of six events)

classes with no (zero, 0) entries this year:
AP, BP
BM, DM, EM, FM

So, to summarize, at my local autocross club, SM2 & F125 have posted more
entries than four stock classes, four street prepared classes, *all* prepared
classes, and *all* other modified classes, yet as I understand it, both SM2 &
F125 are on the Solo 2 chopping block as far as the SCCA is concerned. Does
this confuse anyone other than me?

I understand that my club's entry list might not be reflective of other clubs,
or of SCCA national events, but when I read postings from/by SCCA board
members/employees that SM2 and F125 just aren't showing enough regional
support, let alone national support, and compare with my personal experience, I
become confused (as mentioned above).

A question that I have regarding the addition of these classes is "What is the
big deal about adding them?" The SCCA has now entered into a partnership with
the WKA. Yet the SCCA believes it appropriate to consider denying karts an
official Solo 2 class? At our club, SM & SM2 have more entries than any SP
class. So, since SM is approved, what's the rationale for denying SM2? If
it's solely numbers, I'd like to point out that we have essentially zero A-F
Mod participation. We have two cars that have entered four events total
between them, out of six classes. Yet A-F Mod are still in, while SM2 & F125
are potentially out. I did some math. Now I'm still confused.

Still confused,
