- Yes, the dimmer is just a rehostat. To test it just disconnect the 2 wires from the back of the rheostat and connect them together. The dash lights will now be on full (if the rheostat is the problem

- Good point! When I wrote the initial mail I couldn't decide how to discribe the crank! What I meant was that it had the stroke of a 2L crank, with the lengh and nose of the 1.6L, and no counteweights

- There are a number of things that come to mind on this one. If the brakes are adjusted too tight on that wheel it can cause heat build up, which can cause the metal to expand, causing more pressure

- You can get several inches extra clearance by swinging the spring shackles down so the spring is below the shackle, rather than between the shackle mount and the body. I don't think there will be any

- A few things to try: When you turn the headlights on, do they work? If they do, then there is at least SOME current path from the battery to the rest of the car. Leave the lights on and turn the key
