Yes, the dimmer is just a rehostat. To test it just disconnect the 2 wires
from the back of the rheostat and connect them together. The dash lights
will now be on full (if the rheostat is the problem). On my car there is
only 1 small spot on the dimmer where the dash lights come on at all!
