A few things to try:
When you turn the headlights on, do they work? If they do, then there is
at least SOME current path from the battery to the rest of the car.
Leave the lights on and turn the key to start. Did the lights go out?
If so, there is bad connection between the battery and engine block,
battery and starter, or starter and ignition switch.
If the lights stay brignt, try wiggeling the multi-pin connector right
above the starter. I think it is either 3 or 4 pin. If that is corroded
it can cause that problem. Clean it and coat it with electrical grease
and plug it back in. This connector can cause the entire car to be dead,
the charging system to not charge, or the engine not start. In my opinion
this connector should be removed and either replaced with wires run
directly to the starter, or install a weather proof/high temperature
connector. Its only purpose was to allow the car to be put together
faster at the factory.
Let me know if you need more help.
Peace,
Pat
