The synthetics evidently can go longer without breaking down but you
still have the problems of water vapour and other combustion byproducts
that get past your rings to form acids.

I personally adhere to the 3000 mi oil change to keep from getting an
acid build up in my engine.

Humm, you do not want it to sit with an acid build up inside. I'd go to
straight 30 wt and every 4 month oil changes if you live in a place where
you do not need to lay the vehicle up during the winter. If you do store
it with a fresh oil change.

Cars don't deteriorate as quickly if they are driven on a regular basis.
If you are not in the snow country it wouldn't hurt to get the MG out and
get all the juices flowing at full operating temperature at least once a
week.

Personally I think it is kinda sad for a British sports car not to be
driven frequently. They were designed to be driven.
