Be very careful.
I have used a tar top battery twice-both with bad results. If charged, they
tend to boil over easily and will stain your engine bay. More importantly,
they are unreliable-at least both of mine were.
The directions are important. The solution is to be filled to a certain
point, which if memory serves me correct, is lower than a normal battery.
When I called to complain about the poor performance and damage it had done
to the engine bay, they were unresponsive, then belligerent. I rarely
complain and when I do I try to be constructive. They made it obvious that my
problem was my problem, not theirs.
