Aside from the alternatives to a new block...

Y'know, I've bought quite a few parts, new and used, from Motorhead, and
they've always been square with me. Do I go there for service? No, I can't
afford it. I wish I could. If you can, more power to you. Would I go anywhere
(Motorhead included) and just tell them to "fix it and send me the bill."?
No, I'm not crazy.

They've never hesitated to answer any and all questions. They've done little
bits of benchwork for me n/c. I've heard the same stories, but, I've heard
stories about a lot of repair shops. I think it's a little unrealistic to
expect LBC shops, in particular, to be low priced, especially since they are
often expected to take old, battered semi-antiques and make them run like
last year's Honda.

In some cases, vendor bashing is justified, but, I think we all know that the
care, feeding, and restoration of LBC's is often a thankless task and I don't
see any vendors in this business who are driving Rolls Royces (unless they're
in for repair).

Rant off,
