Has anybody had a float bowl needle stick open and actually had gas running
down the plumbing? Will the engine continue to run under this condition?

I asked one of my classic V8 buddies what happens when the bowl overflows on
an old V8. He said the extra gas runs down the input manifold and kills the
engine. This in turn stops the mechanical fuel pump since the engine isn't
running anymore.
