Hi Terry,
the petrol-pipes, and the nuts on L-P-N4s definitifely were tin-plated.
Maybe nowadays you cant buy them tin-plated, but you easy can do that
yourself, when you paint them before annealing with that half fluid mixture
of acid and tin-powder, which body repairers put on steel-sheet to tin it,
before they start tin-fillering dents.
Before quenching in water, wipe it clean with a new rag, and it comes out
like chrome, and after
some weeks it looks the same greyish-silver as the original pipes.

Talking about originals; dont use solder-on end-unions on a petrol pipe, on
our cars originally the pipe-ends were turned up to make the needed cone
with the pipe-material itself, by using a special tool, which you find
sometimes at plumpers or brake-pipe makers.

Gerhard

The L/P/N petrol pipes that run up to the reserve valve, they are chromed or
nickeled, right?? Those are the ones that run up the firewall. Chrome or
nickel??
