So the skill level of those who attend isn't a factor? Moving it
anywhere toward one coast or the other will most likely dilute the
talent pool that shows up. Move it anywhere and advertise enough and
you'll get 1,250 people to show up with an average driving distance of
30 miles. The competition won't be the same though.

Moving it east will mean you'll get less drivers from the west
(possibly including some of the top competitors) and more "convenience"
drivers from the east (people who show up cuz it's close). Moving it
west will do the same but vice-versa.

I would imagine a national champ would want to know that they won
because they were the fastest in the country, not because Joe
California couln't make a 4-day drive cross-country to compete.
