I absolutely agree.

I know how to launch a car.  I just don't want to beat the crap out of my
sports cars.  If I wanted to launch, I'd get AWD automatic and go drag
racing.

That said, pro solo by its nature is based on launches.  So be it.  But I
don't like this sort of thing creeping into "regular" autocrossing, whether
in SCCA Solo2 or other in local clubs.
