I will take some exception to that description of WHY a 50/50 mix is 
recommended.


The best "boil over protection" would be pure antifreeze.  
The best "freeze protection" is at a higher mix but it is a mixture of both
materials. 
The best "heat transfer" is with no antifreeze.
The best "cost" is with no antifreeze.
The best "corosion protection" is probably pure antifreeze.

The 50/50 mix is a general combination that provides a good trade off among
all the "bests" and works in most climates for most people.

If someone knows what they are doing, it is very likely that they may find a
"better" mix for their purpose.
