Tim---I like it! Perhaps this is what Vizard meant when he suggested
that the cam sprocket could be "flipped"?  Vance?
Given the large amount (?) of teeth  in this sprocket, and if the choice
of bolt holes are spaced as you suggest, it could allow a cam timing
adjustment of as much as 4 degrees.   
If anyone has access to this sprocket, it would be helpful if he or she
would do the math on this.
