Vance, Richard, Tim, Peter M. and interested parties---
The question came up as to whether it was possible to "flip over" the
cam drive sprocket in order to (slightly) change the cam timing, as
reported by Vance, thru the writings of Vizard. There was conflicting
information, and with Richard's scanner, he was able to show that moving
the sprocket 90 deg., and using the "other two" holes in the sprocket,
it did indeed place the sprocket teeth in a different position, and
bisected the 'original' teeth.

We know that there are 42 teeth here, so each tooth represents 8.57
degrees of rotation. Moving the sprocket 90 deg. splits this, as Richard
found when outlining it on a sheet of paper.

This does not mean that one has to search around for the proper timing
when changing camshafts, only that should you find that such timing is
off by 4 deg. one way or the other, this could be a possible solution.

Now, back to the question of why it has been written that one can just
"flip over" the sprocket, and get different timing? We know that the
double row sprocket doesn't lend itself to such a move, due to the
machining on its back side. When such conflicting reports come it, and
I can't figure it out myself, I ask Mr. Guru. Also known as Mr. Kastner.
His answer was simple:

"They were writing about the single row chain sprocket. Hell, I've done
this myself!" End of mystery...
