You are correct, John.  Our TR4 was virtually undriveable in an autocross.  The 
back tire came up and spun uselessly.  I put on an ADDCO front bar (stock-legal 
in both SCCA and VTR rules) and it completely changed.

As has been pointed out, the TR4 is underslung.  Limiting the body roll with a 
stiff front bar prevents the rear axle from being pushed up by the frame.

Even with the front bar, I can still make the car rotate with a throttle lift.
