Andy,
What you need is a nearby lister to visit you and drink some of your beer...
I'd volunteer (might even share some of mine too!) but I suspect I'm more
than an hour's drive away. Do you have a local mechanic with one of those
old ignition analyzers, the kind with a trace for each cylinder showing the
sparking voltage? That can show more than just a bad wire or plug. You can
see indications of fuel and compression problems with enough experience. Not
worth much for performance problems without a rolling road though.

Yes, I vaguely remember your posts (mostly the frustration!) but I don't
remember specifically when the badness happens. Does it always idle well,
just bad performance? Only fades after a medium uphill stint? Dies on right
turns? What's the compression dry/wet? If you suspect bad fuel, unhook a
carb and pump some into a jar. Water should be visible if present. If it
dies under load, try shutting off the engine (and fuel pump) when it starts
running badly, pull off the float bowl covers and see if the fuel level is
up to snuff. Better done on a less-travelled road, of course.

Have you replaced the condensor? Several times? I've had new ones worse than
the ones they were to replace.

Please, for those of us mnemonically challenged, describe the problem again,
with as much detail as you can stand to type.

Don't give up! At least not while the roads are salt-free!
Stan
Peacham, VT (already salted. :( )
