I use Bill Hirsch's Miracle Paint which is the same stuff but it is not UV
sensitive. I painted some metal parts on my front door to my house about 8
years ago and it still looks great and it has southern exposure.
The sell a silver paint which is supposed to be better at sealing the metal
than the black stuff and it can easily be coated as it's flat not glossy. I
have used it on some very rusty parts and top coated it with 2 coats of
black and it hid most of the surface imperfections and looks great.
As to Arthur's question - It doesn't get rid of the rust but it seals the
surface and if oxygen can't reach the rust it will stop rusting. It is also
extremely hard so it does give the metal some strength but I don't think
much.
I had some parts powder coated but antifreeze dripped on them and the powder
coating softened and then peeled. I used Miracle paint on the same parts and
it was unaffected by the antifreeze. I also dipped a part I painted in brake
fluid for a few days and it was also unaffected.
I think the stuff is great for the floors and the front part of the rockers
as well as for the frame, engine parts and suspension. I painted my oil pan
and some brackets more than 10 years ago and they still look great.
It also has great evening so you get no brush strokes.
