        While every Boeing engineer on this list knows it, it surprised me to
find out how HARD you can get aluminum!  Some of the really hardened
sheet is as strong as steel (in some modes, of course).  I got some
plate that I tried using for some small shields- it drilled like steel,
cut almost as hard, and bent almost as well as glass.
        Sometimes I forget that advances in metallurgy are REALLY impressive,
even tho you seldom hear about them.  I guess htat's why my 150,000 mile
roadster engine just needed a 'cleanup' bore to .010 over, while my
friend's '48 Chev went from standard to .040 at 100,000...
