1. I am a firm believer in Accusumps. Like Brian said, they are great for
first starts after a rebuild. It is very reassuring to see oil pressure
before you ever start turning the engine over. Like Brian said, make sure
the piston is at the back and manually fill it with oil. Shut the valve and
put  20 or 30 lbs. of pressure in it, turn it on and when you see pressure
on your gauge, start it up. After you have done the initial run for 20 or 30
minutes. Don't forget however you need to reduce that pressure to the 6 to 8
they recommend when the tube is empty otherwise you won't get a full tube
when the oil is hot and your oil pressure is low. You will need to stop the
engine and let the tube push all the oil into the pan. Then reduce the air
pressure to the recommended 6 to 8 pounds and restart the engine WITH THE
TUBE CLOSED. Open the valve only part way to begin with and let the tube
recharge slowly. (If you don't you will see your oil pressure drop
drastically while the engine is refilling the tube......not a good idea on a
warm tight engine) Once you let the engine run long enough to equalize the
pressure you can open the valve fully. It is also good to remember that if
you spin and stall the engine and you can't get it to start right away,
close the valve so you don't immediately use all of your oil to refill the
tube and then open it slowly after you get started.

2. As for cleanup after a blowup, the only thing to do is completely
disassemble it and clean it thoroughly. Don't forget to clean all hoses too.
