What I did, on the first initial start-up, was to put about three quarts of
oil into the accusump before I installed it (filled slowly thru the -10
outlet port, with a little tiny funnel), then I could pressurize the oil
system in the car with oil by putting air pressure on the back side of the
accusump. Presto, 50# of oil pressure and a full oil system before I
cranked the new engine for the first time! What a blessing!

Ever since then, I would just be sure that the Accusump had pressure
before I put the car away (over night, between races, whatever) by either
cranking the engine or starting it and letting the pressure build up to 80#
or so. the unit would hold that pressure with very little loss over the
entire winter. I could count on getting the car out in the spring,
changing the oil in the sump, and getting 40 - - 50# of pressure by
cracking the accusump valve after 4 months of storage. Most amazing thing
I ever saw - the first time I did this over the winter I was convinced the
gauge on the accusump was broken, but sure enough it still had 80# of oil
pressure in it!
