It comes with directions of how much pressure to put on the back side of the
piston, when empty. Then just plumb up, empty, and be prepared to add a few
extra quarts as the pressure comes up on initial start. The little sucker is
just the simplest, and most beneficial thing you've ever seen. As pressure in
the engine comes up ffom zero, it proceeds to push the piston back in the
accusump until the air charge behind the piston equals the pressure comming out
of the engine. Presto, you have 3 quarts of oil, under pressure, just waiting
to help keep you bearings full and slippery.

dont forget to shut off the valve before you shut the engine down or you end up
with all three of those extra quarts in the pan. And not available to pre-lub
the bearings when you open it again just before you hit the starter.
