Dear Dr. Owen,

Apparently, all that is required to protect valve seats during brisk
operation is 0.5 gram of lead per (US)gallon of fuel. Racing gasoline
is sold in this country in two flavors, one with 4-6 grams/gal of lead
and the other with around 10 grams. I do NOT suggest that you ADD A
SMALL AMOUNT OF RACE GAS to the tank of your road car, for it is no
doubt against some law or other, but if you did it only takes a little
bit.

Dee
