Here's 2 more cents worth.....

I did put Porterfield Carbon Kevlar pads on the front of my tow vehicle ('96 
Tahoe).  They don't need to be hot to work (unlike metallic pads).  They did 
improve stopping, particularly when towing....however the downside was that 
the rotors warped (I do hear its a common problem on Tahoes...even with stock 
pads).  I'd use them again, however.
