1) If you're talking about the original TR4 crankshaft driven aluminum 4
square paddled fan blade used on mid to late TR4s, the 'strengthening ribs'
protrude frontwards.
2) aerodynamically it will pull better right-side round than backwards. The
slight curve and the ribbing creates somewhat of an airplane wing profile. It
will still work mounted backwards but not as well.
3) It's a 'puller' and flipping the fan around wouldn't change that.
4) Probably easiest to remove radiator (and maybe get it rodded at a shop
while you're at it) otherwise you may be able to unbolt radiator and cardboard
shroud so as to push radiator forward (while keeping bottom hose connected) to
gain clearance for those 4 longish fan bolts.
If you're talking about an electric fan ... disregard all above!

Hi,
While at triumphest, someone mentioned that my fan was bolted on backwards.
My car in general does not run hot, but sometimes in stop and go traffic in
southern california I will run too hot. So my question is, how can I tell
which is the proper way for the fan to be mounted? Is the fan supposed to
push or pull? Also can I remove the fan without removing the radiator?
