I doubt very seriously that it was stamped by the dealer.  Unless they took it 
off (illegal) and stamped them in the same exact letter set that the other 
numbers were done it would be very difficult to do. Stamping it on the car 
without damaging the door pillar that is behind the plate would be almost 
impossible  The plate is only stamped in the un-etched or unpainted block 
following the etched in (or silk-screened in) characters that stated 
Manufactured date. There are also figures for gross vehicle weight,  front and 
rear weight and I believe unladen weight that are printed in the blocks (I am 
going from memory here), not stamped in.  As I stated, this is an unusual plate 
not seen on many cars - This was from a large British car dealer in 1973, not 
some small corner lot (still in buisiness as a Mazda dealer now) so I doubt 
very much that it was modified in any way  Im not stating equivocally that it 
wasnt since I can in no way verify that, but I would say that it would be 
highly unlikely
