I installed a 4A engine in my 3 and used the Strombergs, but spent a lot of
time rebuilding them. Check yours for good diaphraghm in the piston and
inspect floats carefully for damage (they are not, to my knowledge,
available any longer). I replaced the valves with Grosse Jet brand, but
couldn't keep them from leaking so went back to the old needle style. Then
the shafts were worn and leaking air, and had to be replaced. Fortunately,
the bushing was ok and did not need any attention. If I had it to do over
again I just might have kept my SU's, but they are great now that
everything is replaced!
