Will-

Another project suggestion-

I put together one of my motors with head BOLTS instead of studs. I
ordered AN grade (Air Force/Navy) bolts from Pegesus Racing catalog.
This are the best bolts civilian money can buy. They should never
stretch under your application. The stock studs are worthless after
several head removals. Since you may not know their history, slip 'em
over the side and invest in better bolts. Bottom tap the holes in the
block. You will pick up about 2 or 3 more threads. Clean thoroughly.
Set the head on and measure your needed bolt length allowing for washer
(use hardened ones, of course) and gasket height.

BL only used studs because they can get away with cheaper material to
hold the head on. ONCE.
