same problem on my gt6. I replaced the door check straps figuring that
would stop the car from trying to eat me every time I tried to get out.
Wrong! the check straps engage a clip that is rivited inside the A post.
Thats what the metal pieces on either side of the check strap are for. I
checked with Nigel at Spitbits but he was out of them at the time. he usually
stocks them. Since I knocked out the rivets when I took out the damaged clip
I plan to try bolting them back in when I get the new ones.
