Please let me know "the degree of difficulty" you encounter doing this task
so that I can plan for it (I can only devote about 4 hours on Saturdays to
work on my Spitfire.

Reid,

Playing with the exact same problem myself right now.  I don't know the
technical words, but the 'lever' that is attached to the door, and 'goes
into the hole' on mine was missing the top portion.  Also, the 'gizmo'
that this lever 'pops' on was broken completely.  I'm currently taking
both pieces out of my other spitfire, and will have them in today.
