I have four of the HF brad nailers. I got two of the little ones that
were on sale for $19.95, and will shoot brads from 3/4" to 1 1/2 or 1 3/4",
and two bigger ones that will shoot brads up to 2" or so. All of them will
shoot a brad through solid oak or oak trim and oak plywood. I love
them. I use the two smaller ones for trim and cabinet work all the time
now, and I used the bigger ones for some rough construction and crates;
worked great.

On the drywall screw issue, FWIW I built a lumber rack out of 2x4 material
on the back of my shop building. It's all fastened together with 3 and 4"
drywall screws, although I did drill pilot holes in most of the horizontal
boards (that were being fastened to the vertical uprights). It's not going
anywhere. Drilling the pilot holes pretty much eliminated breaking screws,
and was a lot easier on the driver. I used and wore out two Makita 7.2
volt drill drivers this summer. I had so much trouble with them I threw
them away and got 2 14.4 volt HF drill drivers when they were on sale for
$12.00, and they have worked fine. I figure I can throw one of them away a
lot easier than a $100 Makita, but so far they have been very durable
through a couple of cabinet projects.
