Hi Craig, I was going to recommend Norm's auto machine shop in Petaluma. He
is very familiar with A and B series engines and has done all the machine
work on my MGA Coupe and B GT. Very good work, reasonable and also local.
Check him out before you ship 100# to Auburn, although Seven Enterprises are
renowned for mini engines.

Thanks for the replies. I spoke to jerry at JNW and got a quote for the
work, and also at Seven Enterprises in Auburn. Seven had a lower quote,
even accounting for shipping both ways (over 100# with block, crank for
sizing, pistons and rods). Jack at Seven said they can usually avoid having
to hone the crank saddles and caps but would check them for free with the
other work being done. Also included surfacing the block, which I didn't ask
JNW to quote, but it could use it. Since Seven is a Mini specialist, it
seems like an easy decision. Good to know about JNW for future local
machining needs though!

Craig,
I have used JNW engine on Piner with good success for Lotus projects. I also
held a tech session at Jerry's shop for club members, who got a good
introduction to his work and capabilities. I know of two other members who
have used his services since the tech session.
All of your needs are well within his abilities. Cost is reasonable but not
cut-rate. Tell him Greg Tatarian with the Lotus twincams, and from the
NOBBC, sent you.
Greg

Hello,
I'm looking for a recommendation of a good, reasonably priced machine shop
or
retired machinist working out of his garage for some engine work for my '65
Mini Cooper S. I need to have the main journals line-honed as well as the
rod
journals honed, new cam shaft bearings pressed in and possibly a light
resurfacing of the block.
Thanks in advance!
Craig Murphy1965 Morris Cooper S
