I remember British Motors on Van ness quite well. Back in 1980 when I
purchased my trusty 57 mga, an old sear's point racer, I would always drive
"downtown" and right into the BMC building at the parts counter with my running
project, talk to all the "old" guys in white smocks and they really helped me
with everything. I was 17 at the time and if it wasn't for their encouragement
and great optimistic attitude I am sure I wouldn't still have it. Also being an
architecture student I loved the building which was designed, if memeory serves
me right, by Bernard Maybeck in the 20's or 30's.
