I have an original card for the cutout. It is card stock, and was mounted (in
the cutout I got) on the bottom.
Is this the part you guys are referring to?

Dick,
I think you will find that the cutout has a metal screen over the bottom
side which keeps the resistors away from the firewall. The fact that the
diagram card is plastic may help as well. Although I can't find mine at
the moment, my memory is that my card is a thin metal plate, not
plastic. But I could be wrong about that.
And yes, the diagram goes between the junction box and the firewall. It
would appear from pictures that the cutout was mounted at the bottom
with the fuses at the top - even though mine was the other way around.
The diagram card was not upright, if memory serves.

Re the last e mail - I went down to dig out the original 1935 firewall
and
realisation dawned!
The plastic plate fits BETWEEN the junction box and the firewall. That
solved ANOTHER mystery I had been puzzling over - namely, how do you
stop
the 2 resistors from the (antique) 3-brush system which sit within the
junction box from shorting out against the metal of the firewall -
answer -
the plastic diagram card insulates them!
It also resolved yet ANOTHER query - which way up does the Junction Box
go?
Answer: With the cut-out at the bottom and fusebox at the top. That at
least is what the card would suggest!
