You bring up some good questions here. I have run the NASCAR style Goodyear
Bonneville tires with semi successful (220 MPH in a coupe) results. Have
often wondered if the lack of any tread had any effect on the traction
situation. Bonneville unlike El-Mirage is moist and as such perhaps creates
a slight hydro-planeing effect that slick tires don't react well to. Have
noticed that the Goodyear Front Runner style tires that seem to work so well
at Bonneville have some tread.

Has anyone had experience with treaded vs slick tires on the Salt?
