In BCD #1173 it is written...

I saw and bought an electronic replacement for my ailing turn-signal flasher
unit (it was making feeble clicking sounds all the time). It was probably
$7-8 instead of $2-3, but it works great, has a smokey clear cover so you can
see the guts actuate, is supposed to last 10x longer than the nasty thermal
kind, and has a nice loud *CLICK* that I can hear even with the top down at
highway speeds. No more signals left on for miles for me.

Ian had purchased on electronic flasher unit. These units are made for trucks
and cars towing trailers with many turn signal lights (usually up to ten).
I recently discovered these units while trying to get my '80 MGB to pass
state inspection. The state determined that my turn signals were to dim!
After spending many hours cleaning all the grounds and connections, replacing
bulbs with a higher AMP bulb, ensuring the battery and alternator were O.K.,
and generally spending my life in the inspection lane I discovered these
electronic flasher units in my local Pep Boys. Well at the next inspection
run the lights were passed. The look on the inspectors face was not worth all
the work but close.

I would suggest that anyone with a aging Lucus car switch over to an electronic
flasher. The price difference is small and the performance is amazing. People
know I'm turning now.
