Dear British Car Netters -
I do have a question for any big Healey folks. One of the
more knowledgable British folks around here says it's a bad idea to
remove the body panels from these cars. He didn't really give me
reason other than that they are spot welded to the frame. In looking
things over and studying the Haynes manual, I don't see any problem
with removing the panels. I've got to replace some portion of the
rear quarter (the part where all the water and other junk collects).
One can see right through to the ground. I don't see any other good
way to correct this without taking the panel off. Haynes says you
can drill out the spot welds and remove the panels. Putting them
back on, they say to use small bolts and lock washers. One could
also put in some small rubber bushings to prevent the panels from
rubbing and squeaking.
    Any comments.....
      Thanks,
