OK I'm a new guy to this list. I've only read a few of the emails on this
thread (i.e., 40 or 50). I usually run my autoXs with the other,
unmentionable group. So you have probes with numbers. So why can't the SCCA
autoX group do one of 2 things.
    A. Buy four wireless (radios) systems for $40 each and form a numbers
network. One radio each for Starter, TimeSlips, Gridder and Control? Would
that not solve the problems without dictating numbers to drivers or else?
    B. In addition, offer one-time numbers (window stickers) or vinyl
magnetic stickers the choice to purchase the badges at registration for each
events. Charge enough over cost of SCCA track officials to make it
financially worthwhile. Add a little peer pressure in publications and
driver meetings. This will solve 90% assssaoproblemsrolems over a .ason..
Don't worry about the 10% who never get the word, or don't want to hear it.
But in the same vein, be toleranewbieewibie. E.g.; allow non-conformers to
make mistakes, buy conforming numbers and install them.
Let the drivers have fun. Let the workers work. I hope at SCCA AutoX
events that workers also drive and vice a versa.
OK, now that this newbie has trolled the SCCA sea of politics using my
self as bait, it's time to put on my flak jacket over my thermals and dive in
the fox hole since incomings followed by cars on track are on the way (smile),
